Responsive website (desktop and mobile)
Midburn is a registered organization that produces an artistic event of utter self-expression. The event has been held in the Negev region of Israel since 2014, and is founded on 14 principles. It is the local rendition of the famous Burning Man festival, held annually in the Black Rock Desert in Navada, USA.
What Individual project
Role UX | UI
Designing a mobile-friendly one-pager. I chose to redesign the existing Midburn website because I felt it did not fully represent the sensation and atmosphere of the festival. It was lacking in creativity, missing that sense of originality that is the very soul of Midburn. In order to attract potential users who are unfamiliar with the festival, it seemed better suited to design a website that sends the right vibe.
The main element in designing a festival website is using eye-catching photos, strong colors and creative elements (less text) in order to convey the atmosphere. For that reason, I chose a one-pager template. This provided me, as a designer, a greater degree of freedom, the ability to go more in-depth and use creativity in my visual work.
Midburn Festival is a journey into a world of fantasy, dreams and creativity.
A one-pager is exactly the first place on the journey on which I wanted to take the user.
The site is a visual website for the festival, used for selling tickets.
There are two types of users:
users who already know the festival; for these I created a ‘purchase now’ option at the top of the page, saving them the need to scroll down the website.
Potential users who are unfamiliar with the festival; they can scroll down until they reach the purchase option.
The design concept and graphic language I created are based on desert elements. Walking through the desert, our footsteps raise dust clouds. This was the inspiration for an element I wanted to incorporate in the site, one that gives off a sense of mystery and fantasy. The incorporation of elements and photos from the festival reflects the freedom of expression and art.
The color scheme is inspired by the tones of the desert. I also wanted to evoke in the users a sense of joy and creativity with the use of yellow and orange.
